Target Information
MAPK13 (p38 delta) is a serine/threonine kinase that transduces extracellular signals such as cytokine and environmental stress responses. It regulates keratinocyte differentiation and is activated by environmental stresses and proinflammatory cytokines. Activation requires phosphorylation by MAP kinase kinases or autophosphorylation via interaction with MAP3K7IP1/TAB1. Substrates include ATF2, MEF2C, MAX, CDC25B, and p53, suggesting roles in transcription, cell cycle regulation, and genotoxic stress response. Four alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
