Target Information
The jagged 1 protein encoded by JAG1 is the human homolog of the Drosophila jagged protein. Human jagged 1 acts as a ligand for the receptor Notch 1, a human homolog of the Drosophila notch receptor. Mutations in the jagged 1 protein cause Alagille syndrome, and jagged 1 signaling through notch 1 plays a role in hematopoiesis.
