Target Information
Claudin-4는 20개의 멤버로 구성된 claudin 패밀리에 속하는 세포막 단백질로, 상피 및 내피 세포의 tight junction에 위치한 세포 접착 단백질입니다.
Claudin 단백질들은 조직 특이적 발현 패턴을 보이며, paracellular 이온 흐름을 조절하는 tight junction의 전하 선택적 채널 구성 요소로 작용합니다.
Claudin-4는 tight junction strand의 구성요소로서 기관 발달 및 기능에 관여할 수 있습니다.
Claudin-4의 과발현은 Na⁺ 투과성을 선택적으로 감소시켜 paracellular 전기 전도도를 감소시키는 것으로 보고되었습니다.
난소암, 췌장암 및 기타 상피암에서 Claudin-3 및 Claudin-4의 mRNA 및 단백질 수준이 모두 증가되어 있음이 확인되었습니다.
또한 Claudin-4 유전자는 Williams-Beuren 증후군(다계통 발달 장애)에서 결실되어 있습니다.
