Target Information
Mouse Unc119b is closely related to Unc119, a homolog of the C. elegans unc119 protein, originally discovered due to a spontaneous mutation affecting locomotion, feeding behavior, and chemosensation.
Mouse Unc119b shares 90% sequence identity with human UNC119b protein.
UNC119b is a myristoyl-binding protein that acts as a cargo adapter, specifically binding the myristoyl moiety of certain N-terminally myristoylated proteins and is required for their localization.
Myristoyl-binding activity of UNC119b is essential for localizing NPHP3 to the primary cilium.
