Target Information
CES3 is a major lipase in white adipose tissue, involved in the metabolism of xenobiotics and natural substrates. It hydrolyzes triacylglycerols and monoacylglycerols, with a preference for monoacylglycerols. Substrate susceptibility increases as the acyl chain length decreases. CES3 also catalyzes the synthesis of fatty acid ethyl esters.
