Target Information
Adrenergic receptors (ARs) are members of the seven-transmembrane domain G-protein-coupled receptor superfamily that bind endogenous catecholamines such as epinephrine and norepinephrine. These receptors exhibit significant heterogeneity, with nine subtypes identified to date: three alpha-1 (1A/D, 1B, 1C), three alpha-2 (2A, 2B, 2C), and three beta (1, 2, 3) adrenergic receptors. ARs are implicated in various disease states including hypertension, cardiac dysfunction (heart failure, ischemia, arrhythmias), diabetes, glaucoma, depression, and impotence.
