MAPKBP-1 (Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase Binding Protein 1, JNKBP-1)은 1,514 아미노산으로 구성된 단백질로, 12개의 WD 반복을 포함합니다.
TRAF2(TNF receptor-associated factor 2)와 Tak1(TGF-beta-activated kinase 1)에 의해 유도되며, NF-κB 활성화를 위한 어댑터 단백질로 작용하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
MAPKBP-1은 JNK3와 상호작용하여 TRAF2의 polyubiquitination을 촉진할 수 있습니다.
이 단백질은 6개의 alternative splicing 변형체로 존재하며, 인간 염색체 15번에 위치합니다.
염색체 15번에는 700개 이상의 유전자가 존재하며, Angelman syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, Tay-Sachs disease, Marfan syndrome 등이 관련되어 있습니다.
