This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%) to prevent contamination.
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems, developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened for optimal production.

Target Information

AFP (Alpha Fetoprotein) is a major plasma protein produced by the yolk sac, intestinal tract, and liver during fetal development. In adults, AFP expression is often associated with hepatoma or teratoma, but hereditary persistence may occur without pathology. AFP is considered the fetal counterpart of serum albumin, with both genes located tandemly on chromosome 4.
AFP exists in monomeric, dimeric, and trimeric forms and can bind copper, nickel ions, fatty acids, and bilirubin. AFP levels in amniotic fluid are used to screen for neural tube defects such as spina bifida and anencephaly. Elevated serum AFP is observed in hepatocellular carcinoma, teratoblastoma, colorectal, pancreatic, and germ cell cancers.
