PRKG1 is a cGMP-dependent serine/threonine kinase that plays an important role in the relaxation of vascular smooth muscle and inhibition of platelet aggregation.

Target Information

PRKG1 is a cGMP-dependent serine/threonine kinase important in vascular smooth muscle relaxation and platelet aggregation inhibition.
It regulates cardiovascular and neuronal functions, smooth muscle tone, and cell growth.
Highly expressed in smooth muscle, platelets, cerebellar Purkinje cells, hippocampal neurons, and the lateral amygdala.
Isoforms Iα and Iβ share identical cGMP-binding and catalytic domains but differ in leucine/isoleucine zipper and autoinhibitory sequences, resulting in distinct dimerization substrates and kinase activity.
