배경 정보 (Background)
This gene encodes a cell surface receptor and transmembrane precursor protein that is cleaved by secretases to form various peptides. Some peptides bind to the APBB1/TIP60 complex to promote transcriptional activation, while others form amyloid plaques characteristic of Alzheimer’s disease. Certain peptides exhibit antimicrobial properties. Mutations are associated with autosomal dominant Alzheimer’s disease and cerebral amyloid angiopathy. Multiple transcript variants and isoforms have been identified.
