세포 내 위치
Cytoplasm, nucleus, and cell membrane. Nucleus localization occurs after activation by ILK1. Nuclear translocation is enhanced by interaction with TCL1A. Phosphorylation on Tyr-176 by TNK2 leads to membrane localization for further activation at Thr-308 and Ser-473. Activated form translocates to the nucleus. Colocalizes with WDFY2 in intracellular vesicles (PubMed:16792529).
Background
The AKT1 gene encodes a serine-threonine protein kinase that is inactive in serum-starved fibroblasts but activated by platelet-derived growth factor via phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase. AKT1 mediates growth factor-induced neuronal survival and suppresses apoptosis through phosphorylation of apoptotic components. Mutations in AKT1 are linked to Proteus syndrome. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist for this gene. [RefSeq, Jul 2011]
