ITGA3 (Integrin alpha 3), also known as CD49C, VLA3, or GAPB3, is a member of the integrin alpha subunit family involved in cell surface adhesion.
- Encoded by the ITGA3 gene on chromosome 17 (17q21.33)
- Forms the alpha3beta1 integrin complex, which plays a key role in neural migration and corticogenesis
- Linked to DAB1 phosphorylation signaling for neuronal detachment
- Expression of human ITGA3 increases viral infectivity in CHO cells
- Contains 13 potential N-glycosylation sites, 2 cleavage sites, and 7 N-terminal repeating units typical of ITGAs
- Recombinant ITGA3 is expressed as a ~150 kDa protein, matching the native form observed in western blot analysis
