Target Information
Protocadherin 1 (PCDH1), also known as cadherin-like protein 1, is a transmembrane protein involved in cell–cell adhesion.
It belongs to the delta1-protocadherin family (PCDH1, 7, 9, 11X/Y), characterized by seven extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic domain.
PCDH1 can be expressed in two isoforms (short and long) and shows temporally and spatially regulated expression.
In mice, it is expressed in the brain, spinal cord, peripheral ganglia, inner ear, hair follicles, kidney, reproductive organs, prostate, and seminal gland.
PCDH1 is a known susceptibility gene for bronchial hyperresponsiveness in humans and is also expressed on human pluripotent stem cells.
