ADP-ribosylation factor (ARF)-like proteins (ARLs)는 ARF 계열의 RAS 관련 GTPase 중 기능적으로 구별되는 그룹을 형성합니다. 이 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 ARL2.GTP와 높은 친화도로 결합하지만 ARL2.GDP, 활성화된 ARF 또는 RHO 단백질과는 상호작용하지 않습니다. ARL2가 활성화되어도 이 단백질이나 ARL2의 막 결합이 감지되지 않으므로 ARF와는 다른 기능적 역할을 수행하는 것으로 보입니다. 이 단백질은 ARL2.GTP와의 상호작용으로 인해 최초의 ARL2 특이적 이펙터로 간주됩니다.
