Target Information
CDH4 (Cadherin-4) is a classical cadherin belonging to the cadherin superfamily. It is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein composed of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. Studies suggest roles in brain segmentation, neuronal outgrowth, kidney, and muscle development. CDH4 can form stable cis-heterodimers with cadherin-2 (CDH2), providing evidence of cadherin heterodimerization. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
