Target Information
NUDT5 is an enzyme that can act as an ADP-sugar pyrophosphatase in the absence of diphosphate or catalyze ATP synthesis in the presence of diphosphate. Without diphosphate, it hydrolyzes various modified nucleoside diphosphates such as ADP-ribose, ADP-mannose, ADP-glucose, 8-oxo-GDP, and 8-oxo-dGDP, and can also hydrolyze other nucleotide sugars with low activity.
In the presence of diphosphate, NUDT5 mediates nuclear ATP synthesis by converting ADP-ribose to ATP and ribose 5-phosphate. This process occurs when the enzyme is dephosphorylated at Thr-45 and is essential for chromatin remodeling events that require high energy. NUDT5 does not participate in U8 snoRNA decapping but binds U8 snoRNA.
