Target Information
The GLP2 receptor (GLP2R) is a G protein-coupled receptor closely related to the glucagon and GLP1 receptors.
Glucagon-like peptide-2 (GLP2) is a 33-amino acid peptide derived from proglucagon, produced by intestinal enteroendocrine cells.
GLP2 stimulates intestinal growth, increases villus height, enhances crypt cell proliferation, and reduces enterocyte apoptosis.
It also prevents intestinal hypoplasia resulting from total parenteral nutrition.
GLP2R is expressed mainly in the gut and is structurally related to GCGR and GLP1R.
