SR 단백질은 아르기닌/세린-풍부한 스플라이스좀 관련 인산화 단백질로, 진핵생물의 pre-mRNA 스플라이싱에 필수적인 고도로 보존된 단백질 군입니다. SR 단백질은 스플라이싱 초기 단계에서 스플라이스 부위 인식과 스플라이스좀 조립을 촉진하며, 대체 스플라이싱 조절에도 관여합니다. 또한 SR 단백질은 핵 내 ‘speckles’로부터 전사 부위로 모집되어 전사와 pre-mRNA 스플라이싱의 공간적 조정을 담당합니다.
