Target Information
ATP5S, also known as ATP synthase subunit, mitochondrial coupling factor B, is a 215 amino acid mitochondrial inner membrane protein belonging to the ATP synthase subunit family.
It regulates mitochondrial ATP synthase and is required for H⁺ conduction during ATP synthesis.
The ATP5S gene encodes the proton channel subunit essential for energy transduction in ATP synthase complexes.
The gene is conserved across species including chimpanzee, canine, bovine, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, and mosquito, and maps to human chromosome 14q21.3.
