Target Information
The Ras-related superfamily of guanine nucleotide binding proteins includes the R-Ras, Rap, Ral/Rec, and Rho/Rab subfamilies. Rab proteins play important roles in endocytosis and biosynthetic protein transport, particularly in the movement of carrier vesicles from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi complex and secretory vesicles. Rab 33B and Rab 33A share conserved effector domains but only 55.3% overall amino acid identity, suggesting potential interaction with similar effector and regulatory proteins.
