Product Specific Information

Reconstitution:
Before opening, briefly centrifuge the vial to collect contents at the bottom. Reconstitute IGF-I in water to 0.1–1.0 mg/mL. Do not vortex. The solution can be stored at 2–8°C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, dilute in buffer with carrier protein (e.g., 0.1% BSA) and store aliquots at -20°C to -80°C.

Storage:
Lyophilized protein is stable at room temperature for 1 month, but should be stored at -20°C for long-term stability. Working aliquots with carrier protein remain stable for at least 12 months at -20°C to -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.


Target Information

IGF1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor 1) is structurally and functionally related to insulin but exhibits much higher growth-promoting activity. It induces various cellular responses, including proliferation, differentiation, migration, and survival. IGF1 stimulates proliferation in muscle, bone, and cartilage tissues and enhances glucose uptake and glycogen synthesis at lower concentrations than insulin.
In circulation, IGFs are bound to IGF binding proteins (IGFBPs), which extend their half-life and mediate tissue delivery. IGF-I is a potent activator of the AKT signaling pathway, promoting proliferation and inhibiting apoptosis.
Mature human IGF-I is 100% homologous with bovine and porcine proteins. Low IGF1 levels have been associated with Alzheimer’s disease. IGF1 is processed from a precursor, binds to a specific receptor, and is secreted. Mutations in the IGF1 gene can cause IGF1 deficiency, and several transcript variants exist.
