Target Information
This gene encodes a voltage-gated delayed potassium channel related to the Drosophila Shaker channel. The protein has six transmembrane segments; the S5–S6 loop forms the pore with a conserved selectivity filter motif. The functional channel is a homotetramer.
The N-terminus associates with beta subunits that modify inactivation and expression. The C-terminus interacts with PDZ domain proteins responsible for channel targeting.
Mutations in this gene have been linked to myokymia with periodic ataxia.
