Betatrophin 단백질(hepatocellular carcinoma-associated protein TD26로도 알려짐)은 간 및 지방세포에서 발현되는 인슐린 표적 유전자로, 혈중 중성지방(triglyceride) 조절을 통해 지질 대사에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. Betatrophin은 angiopoietin-like (ANGPTL) 단백질 계열과 밀접한 관련이 있으며, 추위 노출이나 고지방 식이 후에 mRNA 발현이 증가하고, 단식 시 감소하는 경향을 보여 열발생(thermogenesis) 및 에너지 항상성에 관여할 가능성이 제시됩니다.
