Target Information

DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. They are involved in various cellular processes that alter RNA secondary structure, including translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. Some members of this family are associated with embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cell growth/division.
This gene encodes a DEAD box protein that functions as an RNA-dependent ATPase and a proliferation-associated nuclear antigen, specifically reacting with the simian virus 40 tumor antigen. The gene consists of 13 exons, and although alternatively spliced transcripts have been detected, no isoforms have been identified.
