Product Specific Information
Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
CD68 (Macrosialin) is a 110 kDa integral membrane glycoprotein predominantly expressed on the intracellular lysosomes of monocytes and macrophages, and to a lesser extent by dendritic cells and peripheral blood granulocytes.
CD68 may play a role in phagocytic activities of tissue macrophages, both in intracellular lysosomal metabolism and extracellular cell–cell and cell–pathogen interactions.
It is expressed by interdigitating reticulum cells in tonsil and in certain histiocytic lymphomas, histiocytosis, acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and granulocytic sarcoma.
Elevated CD68 expression has been demonstrated on CD34+ cells in various human malignancies, including several AML studies.
