Target Information
ArfGAP1 is a 406 amino acid regulatory protein containing an Arf-GAP domain, involved in activating the GTPase activity of ADP ribosylation factor (ARF). It promotes hydrolysis of ARF1-bound GTP, facilitating dissociation of coat proteins from Golgi-derived membranes and vesicles, which is essential for membrane trafficking and vesicle transport. Its activity is stimulated by phosphoinosides and inhibited by phosphatidylcholine. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been reported. ArfGAP1 shows ubiquitous expression across most tissues.
