Target Information
The TNFRSF11B gene encodes a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily. The protein acts as an osteoblast-secreted decoy receptor that negatively regulates bone resorption by binding to its ligand, osteoprotegerin ligand. Both are key extracellular regulators of osteoclast development.
Studies in mice suggest roles in lymph-node organogenesis and vascular calcification.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been reported but their full-length nature remains undetermined.
