Target Information
TRAIL-R3 (CD263) is a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily. This receptor contains an extracellular TRAIL-binding domain and a transmembrane domain, but no cytoplasmic death domain. It cannot induce apoptosis and functions as an antagonistic receptor protecting cells from TRAIL-induced apoptosis. The gene is p53-regulated and DNA damage-inducible. Expression is found in many normal tissues but not in most cancer cell lines, explaining the sensitivity of cancer cells to TRAIL-induced apoptosis.
