Target Information
CD137 (also known as TNFRSF9 or 4-1BB) is an inducible costimulatory molecule expressed mainly on activated T cells. Its ligand, 4-1BBL, is expressed on activated macrophages, mature B cells, hematopoietic stem cells, and myeloid progenitor cells.
CD137 signaling supports survival and clonal expansion of activated and memory CD8+ T cells, while regulating myelopoiesis and dendritic cell development. Activation of CD137 induces cytokine release that modulates peripheral monocyte survival. Soluble CD137 may act as a negative regulator in immune responses.
