This antibody detects endogenous levels of total HCA-4 protein.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is part of the SMC5-6 chromatin reorganizing complex and is a member of the MAGE superfamily. This is an intronless gene. The SMC5-SMC6 complex is involved in DNA double-strand break repair by homologous recombination. It may promote sister chromatid homologous recombination by recruiting the SMC1-SMC3 cohesin complex to double-strand breaks. The complex is required for telomere maintenance via recombination in ALT (alternative lengthening of telomeres) cell lines and mediates sumoylation of shelterin complex (telosome) components, leading to disassembly of the shelterin complex in ALT-associated PML bodies (APBs).
