Target Information
The Drosophila melanogaster saxophone (sax) gene encodes a TGF-beta-like type I receptor. This gene, identified as a female sterile locus, shows mutant phenotypes similar to dpp embryos during early gastrulation. Genetic interactions between sax and dpp suggest their involvement in the same signaling pathway.
