• Specificity: Neutralizes human interferon beta.
• Activity: 2.8×10^5 NU/mL
  Interferon was titrated using a cytopathic effect inhibition assay with A549 cells and EMCV. One neutralization unit is defined as the amount of serum required to neutralize one unit of human IFN-β to a 50% endpoint.
• Storage Recommendations:
  • Store at -20°C for short-term use (less than 6 months).
  • For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -70°C or below to retain full activity.
  • Refreezing should be performed on dry ice or in a dry ice/alcohol bath.
  • Further dilution should be done in buffers containing protein (e.g., 0.1% BSA).

Target Information

Type I Interferons (IFN-α/β) are produced primarily in response to viral infection by natural IFN-producing cells (IPCs) as part of the host immune response. IFNs can also inhibit tumor development.
IFN-β binding activates tyrosine kinases Jak1 and Tyk2, leading to phosphorylation of STAT family transcription factors and expression of immune response genes.
Several toll-like receptors (TLRs) also stimulate IFN-β production.
Clinically, IFN-β is used for the treatment of tumors, infections, and multiple sclerosis.
