Cystatin A (STF1, STFA, stefin A or cystatin AS)와 Cystatin B (PME, CST6, STFB, CPI-B, stefin B, liver thiol proteinase inhibitor)는 thiol protease inhibitor로서 Papain 및 cathepsins B, H, L과 복합체를 형성합니다.
Cystatin A는 각질형성세포 내 세포질 단백질로, 표피 발달 및 유지에 관여합니다.
Cystatin B는 리소좀에서 누출된 세포 내 protease로부터 보호하며, 심장, 간, 신장에서 주로 발현됩니다.
