Target Information
MET (cMET) is a receptor-like tyrosine kinase whose dysregulation has been linked to many types of human malignancies. After activation of the ligand, MET interacts with PI3-kinase subunit PIK3R1, PLCG1, SRC, GRB2, and STAT3. These interactions activate signaling cascades including RAS-ERK, PI3K-AKT, and PLCγ-PKC pathways.
MET plays a key role in embryonic development (gastrulation, muscle and neuron development, angiogenesis, kidney formation) and in adult processes such as wound healing, organ regeneration, and tissue remodeling.
Aberrant MET signaling has been associated with cancers including gastric, renal, and breast cancer, making it an important target for cancer therapeutics and diagnostic research.
