This antibody detects recombinant human (rh)M-CSF in Western blots.
In sandwich ELISAs, less than 7% cross-reactivity was observed with rmM-CSF.
No significant cross-reactivity or interference was observed with over 75 other cytokines tested.

Reconstitute at 0.5 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
Endotoxin level is <0.10 EU per 1 µg of the antibody by the LAL method.

Target Information

M-CSF (Macrophage colony-stimulating factor, CSF-1) is a survival factor essential for the proliferation and development of monocytes, macrophages, and osteoclast progenitor cells.
It also induces VEGF secretion by macrophages, mediating mobilization of endothelial progenitor cells and neovascularization.

M-CSF exists as several bioactive isoforms differing in potency and stability.
The full-length protein is synthesized as a membrane-spanning form that can be expressed on the cell surface or further cleaved and modified in secretory vesicles.
M-CSF is a disulfide-bonded homodimer processed into glycoprotein or proteoglycan isoforms modified by chondroitin sulfate addition.

Binding of M-CSF to its receptor, c-Fms (CSF-1R or CD115), induces receptor dimerization followed by internalization and degradation of the complex.
Functionally, M-CSF stimulates differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells into monocyte-macrophage populations in culture.
M-CSF acts through CSF receptor 1.
Human M-CSF shows activity on mouse cells, whereas mouse CSF shows no activity on human cells.
