Target Information
The FADD protein is an adaptor molecule that interacts with various cell surface receptors and mediates apoptotic signaling. Through its C-terminal death domain, it can be recruited by Fas receptor (TNFRSF6), TNFRSF25, and TRAIL receptor (TNFSF10), participating in death signaling initiated by these receptors. This interaction exposes the N-terminal effector domain, allowing recruitment of caspase-8 and activation of the cysteine protease cascade. Knockout studies in mice indicate its importance in early T-cell development.
