Calsequestrin (CASQ)는 주로 골격근과 심근의 접합부 근형질세망(junctional sarcoplasmic reticulum)에 존재하는 Ca²⁺ 결합 단백질입니다. 심근형(CASQ2)은 별도의 유전자에 의해 발현되며, 주된 기능은 근형질세망 내 Ca²⁺ 이온의 완충(buffering)입니다. 또한 CASQ2는 Ryanodine receptor 2 (RyR2)의 개방 확률을 조절하는 역할도 합니다.
CASQ2 유전자 변이는 스트레스 유발성 다형심실빈맥(CPVT2)과 관련이 있으며, 이는 심정지로 이어질 수 있는 양방향성 심실빈맥을 특징으로 합니다.
