MA5-17949 targets CD11a/ITGAL/integrin alpha L in FACS, IHC (F), and IP applications and shows reactivity with Mouse samples.
The MA5-17949 immunogen is EL4 (mouse thymoma cell line).

Target Information

CD11a (LFA-1 alpha, ITGAL) together with CD18 constitute leukocyte function-associated antigen 1 (LFA-1), the alphaLbeta2 integrin.
CD11a is implicated in activation of the LFA-1 complex and plays a central role in leukocyte intercellular adhesion through interactions with ICAM-1, -2, and -3.
It also functions in lymphocyte costimulatory signaling and is expressed on leukocyte membranes in a low-affinity conformation.
Upon stimulation, CD11a transitions to a high-affinity state, enabling tight binding to ICAM ligands.
CD11a is involved in immune cell interactions, tissue-specific localization, cell differentiation, proliferation, and T-cell effector functions.
Blocking CD11a function is a key therapeutic strategy for inflammatory diseases.
Humanized anti-CD11a antibody Efalizumab (Raptiva) and other small molecules such as simvastatin act on CD11a to modulate immune activity.
Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms of CD11a have been identified.
Diseases associated with CD11a dysfunction include benign cephalic histiocytosis and leukocyte adhesion deficiency.
