Target Information
FLT3 is a tyrosine protein kinase that belongs to the growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase family. Activation occurs upon binding of the fms-related tyrosine kinase 3 ligand to the extracellular domain, inducing receptor homodimerization and autophosphorylation. The activated receptor phosphorylates downstream effectors involved in apoptosis, proliferation, and differentiation of hematopoietic cells in bone marrow. Constitutive activation due to mutations can lead to acute myeloid leukemia and acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
