Antibody detects endogenous levels of total GPLD1.
Target Information
GPLD1 is expressed in numerous tissues and cells and specifically cleaves GPI-anchored proteins. The liver exhibits the highest level of GPI-PLD expression and is the primary source of GPLD1 in serum. GPLD1 associates with apolipoproteins AI and AIV in serum. Elevated serum GPLD1 levels are linked to insulin resistance and increased serum triglycerides. Many surface proteins are attached to eukaryotic cell membranes via glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchors, and cleavage of the GPI moiety by GPLD1—the only known enzyme that cleaves GPI anchors—may regulate protein attachment to the cell surface or their release into the extracellular environment.
