In ELISA and other immunoreactive assays, this antibody recognizes both native and recombinant rat IL17-A in cell supernatants and certain body fluids. A control of similarly diluted normal rabbit IgG is recommended.

Target Information

Interleukin-17A (IL-17A, CTLA-8) is a CD4⁺ T cell-derived cytokine that promotes inflammatory responses in cell lines and is elevated in rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, and transplant rejection.
IL-17A is a 32 kDa, disulfide-linked homodimer consisting of 136 amino acids, belonging to a six-member family (IL-17A–F) and signals through the IL-17 receptor (IL-17R/CDw217).
It enhances expression of ICAM-1 in human fibroblasts and stimulates epithelial, endothelial, and fibroblastic cells to secrete IL-6, IL-8, G-CSF, and PGE2.
IL-17A regulates NF-κB and MAPK pathways, stimulates IL-6 and COX-2 (PTGS2) expression, and enhances nitric oxide (NO) production.
