Target Information
CARF (calcium-response factor), also known as ALS2CR8 or NYD-SP24, is a 725 amino acid nuclear protein expressed in various tissues, with highest expression in the hippocampus. It is believed to function as a transcription factor associated with the p53 tumor suppression pathway. CARF interacts with ARF to mediate ARF-p53-induced apoptotic signaling, which is involved in cell cycle control, cellular development, DNA damage response, and aging processes.
