Antibody detects endogenous levels of total MAGE1.
Target Information
Human malignant neoplasms carry rejection antigens recognized by autologous, tumor-directed, CD8+ cytolytic T lymphocyte clones (CTL). The MAGE family of genes encodes an important group of these antigens. MAGE-1 is expressed in a significant proportion of human tumors (melanoma, brain tumors, neuroblastoma, non-small cell lung cancer, breast, gastric, colorectal, ovarian, renal cell carcinomas) but not in normal tissues. Thus, MAGE-1 may serve as a marker for early cancer detection and a potential target for immunotherapy.
