Product Specific Information
PA3-112 detects Somatostatin Receptor 5 (SSTR5) in human samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot, immunocytochemistry, and immunohistochemistry applications.
In Western blot analysis of SSTR5-transfected HEK-293 cells, this antibody detects a ~54–63 kDa protein corresponding to SSTR5.
The immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues Q(344)EATRPPAHRAAANGLMQTSKL(364) of human SSTR5.
Target Information
Somatostatin is a multifunctional protein involved in exocrine and endocrine secretion, neurotransmission, neuronal modulation, and regulation of cell proliferation.
These functions are mediated through G-protein coupled somatostatin receptors (SSTRs).
Among six known receptor subtypes, SSTR5 (364 amino acids) is predominantly expressed in the pituitary and hypothalamus.
SSTR5 contains seven transmembrane domains, forms homodimers, and can heterodimerize with SSTR1.
It complements SSTR2 in regulating ACTH secretion, and polymorphisms in SSTR5 have been associated with acromegaly.
