Target Information
PHGDH gene encodes an enzyme involved in the early steps of L-serine synthesis in animal cells.
L-serine is essential for the synthesis of D-serine and other amino acids.

Mutations in this gene are associated with congenital microcephaly, psychomotor retardation, and other symptoms.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified, though most full-length forms remain uncharacterized.
