Target Information
ZFPM1 is a transcription regulator essential for erythroid and megakaryocytic cell differentiation. It functions as a cofactor forming heterodimers with GATA family transcription factors (GATA1, GATA2, GATA3), which can either activate or repress transcription depending on context. These complexes are required for activation of genes such as NFE2, ITGA2B, alpha- and beta-globin, and repression of KLF1. ZFPM1 may also play roles in gonadal gene regulation and cardiac development, in cooperation with ZFPM2/FOG2.
