Target Information

Van Gogh (strabismus protein in Drosophila) homolog VANGL2 is a 521 amino acid protein in vertebrates.
It is part of the frizzled–disheveled tissue polarity pathway and interacts through its C-terminal region with DVL1, DVL2, and DVL3.
Acts as a tumor suppressor and is involved in early morphogenesis, neural plate development, and regulation of planar cell polarity.
Essential for stereociliary bundle orientation in the cochlea and myocardial cell polarization via RHOA signaling.
Expressed in a wide range of tissues.
