Target Information
The S-Peptide epitope tag (S-Tag™) is a 15-amino-acid peptide used for various applications such as localization analysis, expression detection, and purification of polypeptides in mammalian cells.
Its small size, ability to purify tagged polypeptides without antibodies, and minimal endogenous expression make it an attractive alternative to other epitope tags.
Epitope tagging enables detection and purification of proteins expressed by cloned genes. Protein expression vectors are engineered with a nucleotide sequence encoding the peptide tag, allowing the protein of interest to be synthesized as a fusion protein. Detection and purification are then mediated by highly specific antibodies to the engineered peptide tag.
