Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as cancer or disease biomarkers. The KLK8 gene, part of the kallikrein subfamily cluster on chromosome 19, encodes a protein potentially involved in skin proteolytic cascades and may serve as a biomarker for ovarian cancer. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternative splicing.
