Target Information
This gene encodes a protein belonging to the stathmin family, which forms a complex with tubulins at a ratio of two tubulins per stathmin molecule. Microtubule assembly requires ordered alpha- and beta-tubulin organization, and complex formation with stathmin disrupts microtubule formation and function. A pseudogene of this gene is located on chromosome 22. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
